Change of Season

This is a repost of the first story that I put up on WordPress, also the first story I completed after I began writing earlier this year.  I thought it might be a fitting celebration of this All Hallows’ Eve.

Be safe out there…

Homework Gone Awry: How Much Do You Care?

Good morning Dave.

Morning Max.  What’s on the books for today?

You have a 9:30am follow up with the Director of Purchasing, then you are training new Sales Associate Jessica Colton on the order entry system.

Another one?  Damn.  I’m getting tired of having to do this every week or two.  They never seem to learn.

Perhaps what the new recruits are lacking is an engaged learning environment.  A wise man once said, “Nobody cares how much you know, until they know how much you care.”

But what if I’m tired of making the effort?  What if I don’t care?

Sometimes it is necessary for the sake of completing a required task to push ahead even though you lack the motivation.

Fake it till you make it?

What if I don’t want to?

Then you will suffer in your self imposed exile.

Stupid computer…

This was a writing challenge from my writing group, the prompt was a quote by Theodore Roosevelt, “Nobody cares how much you know, until they know how much you care.”
